The Music of Michel Herr

The Brussels Jazz Orchestra (musical director : Frank Vaganée) is one of the finest big bands to have appeared on the international jazz scene in recent years.
They have recorded several albums and gave numerous concerts with some of the world's best composers from the US and from Europe, such as Maria Schneider, Bill Holman, Dave Liebman, Gianluigi Trovesi, Kenny Werner, Bert Joris, Bob Mintzer, Kenny Wheeler, etc..and with guests such as Mc Coy Tyner, Phil Woods, Philip Catherine, Jeanne Lee, Toots Thielemans, Lee Konitz, David Linx etc... They played in numerous festivals in Europe and in the US, where the Downbeat jazz magazine ranked them 8th in the critics poll in 2004.
Michel Herr has collaborated with them on several occasions. He wrote two suites especially for the band and a.o. contributed in 2007 to the acclaimed album Changing Faces, recorded by singer David Linx with the band.

In 2007, Michel Herr, who wrote many works for the big band format, recorded a double album of his compositions with the BJO, The Music of Michel Herr. The release in February 2008 on the Werf label (B) was associated with very successful concerts in front of an enthusiastic audience.

"The Music of Michel Herr" is a unique experience, available for concerts and festivals.
Michel Herr conducts the BJO in a rich repertoire of his own compositions, some of which have become classics, some more recent, all with some great ensemble playing and the excellent soloists of the band.
