Release on cd of a rare live recording of violinist Zbigniew Seifert "Live in Solothurn", with Michel Herr
The Zbigniew Seifert Foundation in Poland has found and recently released on cd a rare and historical live recording (made in Switserland) of the late jazz violinist Zbigniew Seifert, a musical giant who died much too early. In the late seventies, Zbigniew went on the road with his European quartet "Variospheres", consisting of Michel Herr (piano, Rhodes), Hans Hartmann (double bass, CH) and Janusz Stefanski (drs, PL). The cd is titled Live in Solothurn.
Although soundwise not technically perfect, the album is a rare testimony of the playing of the great Polish violinist, who was inspired by the music of John Coltrane, modal, folk and free music but always with a very personal approach.
Zbigniew Seifert's music remains undoubtly of an amazing intensity and modernity. (November 20, 2017).
