On the passing of the great Wayne Shorter and Michel Herr's arrangement on "Ana Maria"
About the passing of the great Wayne Shorter, Michel Herr wrote : "Disturbing coincidence or telepathic waves? I recently felt like revising my big band arrangement of Ana Maria, his beautiful composition. I have been working on it for the last few days. Today, I finish it, I create the pdf files, and that's it, it's done. The next minute, I mean literally, I look at the news and learn that Wayne has passed away... What a sad and strange combination of circumstances! May this chart be a modest tribute to a master who has always meant a lot to me and served as an example for my investment in music. In an interview years ago, he said that you have to do something that really matters. I borrowed his words "Make it count" as the title of one of my tunes. Eternal admiration and gratitude. There is still a lot to be learned from his music and from his unique creative approach. A giant is gone."
P.S.: the arrangement on Ana Maria has been injected into the "Arrange Me" platform (Hal Leonard) and is already available on sites like SheetmusicDirect, SheetMusicPlus ", etc. (March 4, 2023).
